Join Haddon Township Equity Initiative (HTEI), Ida's Bookshop, Haddon Township Equity Initiative (HTEI), and the Township of Haddon on a journey through Camden County where we will explore our community's rich history. Discover the significance of Black history in the local South Jersey region and embrace a weekend of learning, unity, and celebration.
Last year's tour supported 25 Black owned businesses (click photo link in image above to see the highlight video). This year, our celebration focuses on bridging generations-investing in our youngest learners while rooting our work in the wisdom and guidance of our elders. Our theme is sustainABILITY.
Event highlights include:
- Three day experience hosted by the STARFIRE
- Ida's Bookshop Installation at the Village Market at Haddon Square
- Live music curation by Seraiah Nicole
- Music by DJ Shaboogie
- Village Market Place experience featuring Black-owned businesses and organizations
- Trolley Tour of local historic sites and Black-owned businesses
*The 3-day event is family friendly. Participation is free with the exception of tickets for the Trolley Tour Experience on 2/23/25. Advanced registration is requested for Sunday's Storytime with STARFIRE for planning purposes.

Join us for a special intergenerational gathering as we celebrate Black History Month with an evening of music, food, and community—all while uplifting the next generation of leaders.
This event will bring together elders, youth, and community members for a powerful exchange of stories, wisdom, and inspiration. Through shared experiences, we will honor the past while empowering young voices to lead the future.
Expect live performances, cultural cuisine, and meaningful conversations that bridge generations and strengthen our collective vision for progress.

- Morning Tour: 10 am -2 pm (arrival for check-in 9:30 am)

Location: Tour will begin at the Village Market at Haddon Square (51 Haddon Ave Westmont, NJ 08108)
Continue the celebration at the Village Market Place. Expect live performances, cultural cuisine, and the opportunity to shop in support of local Black-owned businesses at the Village Market pop-up event at Haddon Square.
Purchase tickets to join us on the Trailblazers Trolley Tour, a hop-on, hop-off experience departing from Haddon Square.
This immersive tour will take you through the rich Black history of Camden County, with stops including but not limited to:
Saddler’s Woods (Haddon Township)– A historic natural space with deep cultural significance
Black-owned businesses in Camden and Collingswood– Supporting and highlighting local entrepreneurship.
Lawnside’s historic landmarks —Exploring one of the nation’s most significant historically Black communities.
Tour Highlights:
1. Historical Narratives: Learn about the profound Black history of South Jersey, guided by experts passionate about preserving and sharing these stories.
2. Culinary Delights: Enjoy food stops featuring authentic flavors that represent the diverse culinary heritage of the region.
3. Cultural Immersion: Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of South Jersey through live performances, art exhibitions, and interactive experiences.
4. Literary Gems: Ida’s Bookshop will curate a selection of books that celebrate Black voices, offering a chance to explore and support African American authors.
5. Artistic Expression: Black-owned businesses located in the area will showcase the artistic talents within the Black community, providing a platform for creativity and expression.
Shop in support of local Black-owned businesses along the tour stops. Products made by Black-owned businesses will be highlighted in addition to pop-up events curated specifically for the tour.

A Soulful Sunday: Music, Storytelling & Community
Wrap up the weekend and lay down your burdens with a special Sunday service community gathering bringing together music, storytelling, and fellowship in honor of Black History Month.
This family-centered gathering will feature music to uplift and inspire, storytime for all ages (celebrating Black history and culture) refreshments & community connection to close the weekend in unity.
Join us as we reflect, rejoice, and continue the conversation—rooting ourselves in history while looking toward the future.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please register the child AND adult that will be in attendance

- Paid tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
-All Trolley Tour attendees will be required to sign a liability waiver and photo release for participation.
- Tours are designed for 32 people beginning at Haddon Square, ensuring an intimate and engaging experience. Please plan for approximately 5 hours for the entire tour experience
-Trolley Tour Ticket price covers transportation, guided tours, live music, and support of Black-owned businesses in Camden County.
