Music is a tool for self-expression identity reclamation and a rallying cry for community. TAIWANfest presents RALLY FOR TAIWAN a live music program inspired by the role music played in the island nation’s journey to democratization. Featuring Truku artist Lihaw Lihang who sings for his people and the mountains of his childhood; the first-ever Hakka punk band Traego who confronts social injustices of today’s generation with their voices; and indie folk band TUDI-VOICE who uses their mother tongue of Taiwanese to sing for the land and the people who co-exist on it. Come on out and raise your voice for community! More info at torontotaiwanfest.ca.
