Join us at the beautiful (and ADA-compliant) Madonna University Welcome Center for our 3rd annual celebration of the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When Livonia City Councilmembers unaminously voted to recognize MLK Day as an official Livonia holiday beginning in 2023, we knew it was an excellent opportunity for our community to join together in celebration of all that Dr. King stood for. Metro-Detroit based MOSES co-presented our inaugural breakfast at the Burton Manor. More than 100 people attended.
Thanks to enthusiastic support from Madonna University, we held the 2024 breakfast at their beautiful Welcome Center. Their ADA compliant facilities and modern technology made the event more accessible to more people. It also provided a separate space for our Waldorf teacher-led children's program and an opportunity to showcase artwork submitted by Livonia area youth for our "Living the Dream" Youth Art Competition.
What to Expect This Year
As we build on the success of our first two years, we will continue to celebrate Dr. King's legacy of inspiration by paying homage to the women who lit the fires of the Civil Rights movement and those who continue to keep those fires burning today. We also look forward to establishing a scholarship fund for Livonia students, as well as, celebrating individuals in our community who help to keep Dr. King's dream alive and inspire others to do the same. And, we're still committed to making sure this event is accessible and affordable for all (and free for kids).
Event Schedule
7:30am - Doors open. View our children's art submissions, check-in your children for their program, or enjoy fellowship and networking.
8:00am - Breakfast is served.
8:15am - Program begins.
This is a family-friendly event. Children between the ages of 4 and 11 can enjoy a FREE children's program (led by a Waldorf educator) with continental breakfast and age-appropriate activities.
*Two children per adult paid admission.
**Space is limited.
Recommended Attire: Wear whatever you like.
