Celebrating 2024 China-France Year of Culture and Tourism Year the residency initiative united cultural innovators from both nations through master workshops commission works and exhibition in Louvre Museum Paris which Brigitte Macron (France’s First Lady) attended and praised their artistic brilliance and cultural significance.
Jointly organized by Nanjing Week Beijing Contemporary Art Foundation Ateliers d’Art de France and Nanjing University of the Arts the program facilitated cross-cultural artistic exchange. From July to October 2024 notable artists such as Ugo Gattoni Nathalie Casset and Wei Donghui collaborated with Nanjing’s traditional craft masters specializing in yun brocade and pompom-making.
As part of the “Nanjing Week in France" the program received widespread acclaim and symbolized a milestone in Sino-French cultural collaboration. It reaffirmed the importance of mutual learning and innovation in preserving and reimagining intangible cultural heritage.
