Girls Speak Out at the United Nations!Celebrating IDG 2024
Join us for the eleventh annual Girls Speak Out to celebrate International Day of the Girl! Together, we will take over the United Nations to celebrate girls' activism and advocacy for Girls' Vision for the Future!
This celebration is the result of the December 19, 2011 UN Resolution 66/170, designating the 11th of October International Day of the Girl Child- to recognize girls' experiences and promote girls' rights!
For many years, the Girls Speak Out has featured Girl Activists’ stories from around the world and reflections and responses by UN dignitaries. This year, we are excited to feature a new format: a girl-led UN Townhall discussion with questions from participants and attendees, followed by an Action Conference of learning labs by Girls, for Girls!
Seating is limited, so make sure to register early!
Date: Friday, 11 October, 10:00am-1:00 pm EDT
(Girl-led UN Townhall: 10:00am-11:30am EDT followed by
the Girls' Action conference: 11:30-1:00pm )
Location: United Nations Headquarters, New York, NY
We want this to be a space prioritized for girls (in all their diversity). If you are an adult, we ask that you register for in-person attendance only if:
- You are accompanying girls/youth to attend, OR
- You are a volunteer with the Working Group on Girls, OR
- You are a colleague with a Permanent Mission or UN agency
If you would like to watch the Girls' Speak Out Townhall, we welcome you to register to attend online using the virtual registration option.
For groups: Groups should register each attendee individually. You may register up to 10 attendees. Please wait to register until you have the name and information for each person you are registering.
For Girls: Is there a pressing social issue that girls face in your community or in the world? Do you have a question about what girl activists, policy makers, and other organizations are planning to create social change for girls rights in a specific area?
