Artist BIO

Tory Trujillo is a Mixed Blood, Two-Spirit, Facilitator of Healing as a Licensed Massage Therapist, Energy Worker, Professional Vocalist, Sound Healer, and Creator of Beauty. Her healing methods are rooted in her Mexican Indigenous heritage.  Her modalities are informed by her ancestral lineage and enhanced through additional training. A few of her other creative outlets include knitting, crocheting, jewelry making, beading, glass art, and up-cycling wine bottles.

ART STATEMENT  - I am a vocal artist, sound healer, bodyworker, energy worker, and creator of beauty. I intend to curate experiences where participants can quiet their minds, calm their nervous systems, and allow a feeling of deep relaxation, relief, and healing.  Healing is the focus and driving force of my work in its many expressions.  While sound and the healing arts are my main creative modalities, I also knit, crochet, bead, make jewelry, and artfully upcycle wine bottles.  I believe that connecting with the Creative Flow, regardless of the medium, connects us to healing and well-being.

Regarding sound, I found my voice in the Pentecostal Church where I started singing at the age of 12. It was there that I experienced, even before understanding, that singing was a channel for expressing and clearing emotions and trauma that was unsafe to communicate at home.  In essence, singing was my healing.   With time I learned that others were moved and healed by my vocal offerings.

I began singing professionally as a harmony support vocalist in 2015 with artists such as Holly Near, Laura Love, Nedra Johnson, Aleah Long, Jamie Anderson, and many others.

I began to integrate sound healing techniques with hands-on healing modalities after attending two sessions of A Sound Mystery School in 2010 and 2011.  These techniques include the use of tuning forks, quartz crystal singing bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, and vocal toning.  I use these forms of sound healing in individual sessions and also when offering group meditations (also referred to as sound baths).   I have given this meditation at music festivals and healing retreats since 2012.

My first solo album “Still Point ~ Music for Healing” was released in 2014.  This music is an offering of ambient sound vibrational music created with healing intention.  Soothing and etheric vocals weave around a sound bed provided by Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls, synthesizer, acoustic guitar, and frame drum. It is a deeply meditative experience.

I am currently an Artist in Residence for the BIPOC Sustainable Tiny Art House Community which sponsors her to offer Sound Medicine Meditations free to the community. I was a 2023 Recipient of the Uptown Storefront Activation Grant funded by the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture which resulted in a Sound Bath Performance hosted by Path with Art.  I have facilitated the group Sound Healing Experiences for the Goddard MFA Residency in Tacoma and have performed as a part of art exhibit celebrations for Artist Storme Webber for her part of the Aids Memorial Pathway installation and the "Home of Good: A Black Seattle Storyquilt" closing celebration at the ARTS at King Street Station.
