The British Novice quiz tournament is aimed at student quizzers with limited or no tournament experience - ideal for those taking their first steps in academic quizbowl. The packets were written by UKQB volunteers, which means all the questions pertain to the UK more than if we just got our hands on an American set. This is one of two in-person sites for the tournament -- the Northern Mirror will be held in Manchester.
GETTING THERE:
This tournament is being held in the Sir Alexander Fleming and Skempton Buildings at Imperial College. The former is the glass-fronted building that faces Imperial College Road, and the latter is just opposite it – look for the road with a very phallic statue. Parking is limited, but we can sort out parking spaces on request.
SCHEDULE:
The aim is for all players to arrive by 09:45 for a briefing (in Skempton Room 164), with the first round to begin at 10:00, a lunch break around 13:00 and for the playoffs to finish around 17:30 (not including any finals).
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Participants must be students studying for a degree at a UK university. Participants should also be novices and not have extensive tournament experience. If you are unsure about a player's eligibility, please contact either the hosts or UK Quizbowl.
