The Las Vegas Book Festival, now in its 22nd year, returns to downtown Las Vegas Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with headliners Terry McMillan, Malcolm Nance, Rebecca Yarros and Ana Reyes. The free annual event is held in downtown Las Vegas at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St., and is open to all ages.“How Stella Got Her Groove Back” author Terry McMillan challenges readers to tap into their passions, defeat their demons, take care of their whole selves and never take happiness for granted. The critically acclaimed and New York Times No. 1 bestselling author’s newest novel, “It’s Not All Downhill from Here,” illustrates the challenges women face and how they pull themselves up through the power of friendship and forgiveness.
Malcolm Nance is a bestselling author and terrorism/counter-terrorism/extremism consultant. He has been deployed to respond to numerous incidents, including the Sept. 11 attacks, as well as conceptualized and implemented the Advanced Terrorism, Abduction and Hostage Survival school in resisting torture, exploitation and escaping terrorist captivity. In his most recent book, “They Want to K*ll Americans,” he outlines the threat America faces from U.S.-led militia groups.
