About this Event
The Electric Propulsion Innovation Challenge (EPIC) provides an authentic, hands-on aerospace design challenge for students in middle school and high school.
Join us to play this year's game- Precision Pursuit- where teams design, build and fly a small electric aircraft that will fly through flight gates of different heights and sizes.
Each fly-off consists of four components:
- Airplane Inspection- requires that student teams present their airplanes for a flight check. Volunteers verify that the airplane conforms with the game design rules.
- Display Board- provides an opportunity for teams to show design decisions that they made as they designed, constructed and tested their airplane. It also reinforces the importance of sketching, documenting, and analyzing test data. Display Boards are submitted on the day of the fly-off at check-in.
- Game Task- is an opportunity for students to demonstrate proof of concept by flying their aircraft. Then, teams earn additional points for successfully playing this year's game.
- Level-Up- is designed to keep kids thinking and help them earn extra points and in-game advantages.
