The ideal course for understanding CTG monitoring in the context of fetal physiology, complex labours, & underlying placental pathologies.
About this Event

This course presumes that the participant has foundation knowledge and clinical experience. It teaches the attendant the principles of physiological interpretation of fetal heart rate (FHR) patterns and clinical decision making. The course has a particular focus on the management of labours complicated by maternal fever, chorioamnionitis, meconium, oxytocin infusion, fetal growth restriction, gestational diabetes, and placental disorders. It helps the participant to deepen and consolidate their knowledge and understanding of:

  • fetal physiology & the regulation of fetal heart rate decelerations
  • fetal defence against hypoxic ischaemic insults, and patterns that suggest fetal decompensation
  • subtypes of intrapartum fetal hypoxia & intelligent application to clinical guidelines
  • how to avoid unnecessary operative interventions

Other benefits:

  • ideal for governance leads, & fetal monitoring lead-obstetricians/midwives
  • compliance with CNST, SBLCBv2, & Ockenden recommendations
  • tests on CTG knowledge & competence
  • Hands-on practical case reviews

This is a 2-day weekend course: Saturday December 09 and Sunday December 10, 2023Venue - John Parker Lecture Theatre, Ground Floor, Atkinson Morley WingThe registration starts at 8:30, followed by the workshops from 09:00 till 17:00
