Join Shedunnit at London’s amazing Cinema Museum for a wonderful evening to celebrate 1940s noir heroines and the launch of Third Woman by Helen Jacey, Book 4 in the thrilling female detective series Elvira Slate Investigations.

Talk: Sex, Shrinks and Suspicion: Flipping the Script of the 1940s Noir Heroines with
Author and female character expert Helen Jacey will share some of her favourite 1940s noir heroines from old Hollywood. She will explore how sexuality, romance, mental health, psychoanalysis, spies, fashion and beauty influenced the era’s crime noir genre and representation of women on screen. She will share some secrets of her own crime writing process.
Screening of Laura (1944)
The evening will culminate in a screening of the much loved noir classic movie Laura!
Dir. Otto Preminger, and starring Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews.
When glamorous advertising exec Laura is murdered, a 1940s detective investigating her death becomes obsessed with her portrait leading to shocking discoveries.
