English follows❤️🔥Être locataire, ce n’est pas qu’une condition temporaire en attendant de devenir propriétaire. Pour plusieurs d’entre nous, être locataire, c’est une réalité durable, un mode de vie assumé et pleinement légitime, dont on peut être fièr·e·s.
Pour la 14e journée des locataires, le Regroupement des comités logement et associations de locataires du Québec (RCLALQ) vous invite à une 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚̀ 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐫 𝐝𝐞 𝟏𝟑𝐡 𝐚𝐮 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐜 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞-𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐭 𝐚̀ 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐮𝐢𝐥.
Cette journée sera un moment pour 𝐜𝐞́𝐥𝐞́𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 et pour 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐬 au gouvernement. Nous réclamons:
1) 𝐥𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐞́𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐞 𝐫𝐞̀𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨̂𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬. Le coût moyen des loyers a doublé en 5 ans dans la plupart des grandes villes du Québec. Il y a des lois qui limitent les augmentations, mais souvent, les propriétaires ne les respectent pas et le gouvernement ne fait rien pour les empêcher. Il faut que ça change!
2) 𝐥𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐞́𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐝’𝐮𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐱 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐮𝐱. Trop de gens ont de la difficulté à payer toutes leurs factures. C’est inacceptable que plusieurs personnes doivent choisir entre payer le loyer ou manger. En construisant plus de logements sociaux (HLM, OSBL-H et coopératives), moins de gens vivront dans la pauvreté.
3) 𝐥𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐝𝐮 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐞𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐞́𝐬 𝐝𝐮 𝐐𝐮𝐞́𝐛𝐞𝐜. Nous voulons que le gouvernement reconnaisse que d’avoir un logement est un droit fondamental.

14th Tenants' Day
Being a tenant is not just a temporary condition on the way to becoming a homeowner. For many of us, being a tenant is a lasting reality— a totally legitimate way of living and one that we can be proud of.
For the 14th Tenants’ Day, the Regroupement des comités logement et associations de locataires du Québec (RCLALQ) invites you to a 𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝟏 𝐩.𝐦. 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐜 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞-𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐮𝐢𝐥.
This day will be a moment to 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 and to 𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 to the government. We are calling for:
1) 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬. The average cost of rent has doubled in the past 5 years in most major cities across Quebec. Laws exist to limit increases, but landlords often ignore them and the government does nothing to enforce them. This has to change!
2) 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐬. Too many people are struggling to pay all their bills. It is unacceptable that so many are forced to choose between paying rent and eating. The more social housing is built (public housing, non-profit housing, and housing co-ops), the less people live in poverty.
3) 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐜 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐬. We want the government to recognize that having a home is a fundamental right.
𝑳𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔
A shuttle service will be available starting at 12:30 p.m. from the new drop-off area at Longueuil metro station. Follow the signs for Terminus Street.
Transportation will also be provided from Montreal. To register, contact your local housing committee!
