Kick off the holiday season this weekend at the annual Greektown tree lighting on Sunday, November 23 at 5 p.m. at Elysian Field. Warm up with complimentary hot chocolate and Greek sweets as you celebrate with our Greektown community. Students from Chicagoland Greek schools will sing traditional Greek Christmas carols (kalanda) along with live music. In addition to the festive blue and white lights (the colors of the Greek flag) along Halsted Street, the neighborhood’s traditional Greek holiday karavákia display of vibrant, illuminated boats is on view throughout Greektown businesses now through January 6th.
