About this Event
No other Jazz musician marked the 20th Century as Miles Davis did. To celebrate what would be the 100th birthday of the legendary trumpeter/composer and bandleader that Miles was, the NTJO (17 piece Big Band) has assembled a collection of charts to reflect on Miles's acoustic period. From Bebop to Cool to the Gil Evans years and his 2 famous quintets, the band will play adaptations and reinventions of tunes that created the soundtrack to the 1950-60's Jazz era. From "So what" to "My funny Valentine", "All blues" and many more Miles Davis classics, join us for a fantastic evening of big band music.
Led by local pianist James Hayes and featuring Amy Winehouse musicians Aaron Liddard and Giles Straw and West End trumpet players Graham Russell and Andy Gibson, the band comprises London's finest jazz players and improvisers. Making the most of the wonderful acoustics of St Michael and All Angels church, near the Turnham Green tube station, the band will play in the round, offering their audience a unique experience in watching and hearing the band from all angles.
Entry and a free drink are included in the £15 ticket price.
