Come to the Birmingham Conservatoire and try out some Sacred Harp singing, a very powerful and interesting style of participatory a cappella, four-part choral music, using shape notes! It should be of special interest to both composers and singers at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. If you are not a singer, DON'T WORRY! This is neither a rehearsal nor a performance, we are just coming together to sing, and making mistakes is part of it, and is never penalised or called out; just come and have some fun singing your heart out!
The singing will consist of a rundown of all the rudiments, as well as a selection of songs we will choose together. Printouts and book loaners will be available.
The singing will take place in the Recital Hall of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, on the 4th of June, 19:00 - 21:00.
The event is open to all students at BCU and the conservatoire and their friends, as well as all sacred harp singers and their friends and accquaintances.
