Intimate Geographies of Bakota is an ongoing project by ARSÈNE ( @vurstovic ) a multidisciplinary artist, researcher and humanitarian activist.
ARSÈNE’s walking-based workshop methodology was developed through engagement with the landscapes and communities of Bakota, Ukraine. Rooted in embodied movement, vulnerability, and attentive observation, the method explores how intimacy with geography can deepen our relationships with place, memory, ecology, and one another. Through guided walks, reflection, and sensory awareness, participants are encouraged to approach landscapes not simply as environments, but as active collaborators in shaping emotional and social experience.
While developed in Bakota’s specific geographical and historical context, the methodology is transferable to other landscapes and communities. It offers a framework for building more attentive, authentic, and caring relationships with the places we inhabit, move through, or temporarily encounter.
The workshop is open to anyone interested in memory, landscape, movement and collective experience.
