瑪格麗特．杜哈絲（Marguerite Duras）既會寫小說，也會拍電影，是法國著名的作家、劇作家、編劇及電影導演，她的一生創作了40多本小說及10多部電影，《廣島之戀》（"Hiroshima mon amour" 1959）、《情人》（"L'Amant" 1984）都是她的經典之作。然而，不論是在杜哈絲的寫作世界，還是電影世界，愛情與慾望一直都是她的創作命題。在她的生命裹，有著與眾不同又大膽前衛的愛情觀；在她的作品中，角色如她本人一樣瘋狂又熱烈地追求愛情，所以她曾經在一次的訪問中說道：「如果我不是一個作家，會是一個妓女。」

Marguerite Duras was a creature of many forms—novelist, playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker—who moved through the French cultural landscape with a singular, restless energy. Over a career that spanned more than forty novels and ten films, she produced masterworks such as Hiroshima mon amour (1959) and The lover (1984), yet her true subject remained constant: the volatile intersection of love and desire.

Her life was defined by an avant-garde sensibility that refused the comforts of convention. In her work, as in her reality, characters pursue affection with a ferocity that borders on the delirious. "If I were not a writer," she once remarked in an interview, "I would be a prostitute." It is within this provocative space—where the act of living and the act of writing become indistinguishable—that Duras built her labyrinth.
