Curious about construction, hands-on work, or learning how to safely use power tools? ASD Girls in Gear: Power Tools is a FREE, week-long training designed specifically for ASD high school–aged girls who want to build confidence, skills, and experience in a shop environment.Participants will learn the fundamentals of construction safety and power tool use through guided, hands-on projects led by experienced instructors from Alaska Works Partnership.
🛠What You’ll Learn:
• How to accurately measure and read a tape measure
• Lumber basics, including sizes, types, marking, and cutting
• General shop and jobsite safety practices
• Safe operation of common construction power tools, including:
– Drill & impact driver
– Compound miter saw
– Jig saw
– Router
– Kreg jig
– Orbital/finish sander & belt sander
• Build multiple small projects while practicing real-world skills
📅 Dates: Monday–Friday, March 9–13, 2026
