Curious about construction, hands-on work, or learning how to safely use power tools? ASD Girls in Gear: Power Tools is a FREE, week-long training designed specifically for ASD high schoolβaged girls who want to build confidence, skills, and experience in a shop environment.Participants will learn the fundamentals of construction safety and power tool use through guided, hands-on projects led by experienced instructors from Alaska Works Partnership.
π What Youβll Learn:
β’ How to accurately measure and read a tape measure
β’ Lumber basics, including sizes, types, marking, and cutting
β’ General shop and jobsite safety practices
β’ Safe operation of common construction power tools, including:
β Drill & impact driver
β Compound miter saw
β Jig saw
β Router
β Kreg jig
β Orbital/finish sander & belt sander
β’ Build multiple small projects while practicing real-world skills
