WHAT IT IS:
Group setting (in person) with up to 4 pumping parents + IBCLC / CBS in the same room at the same time
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
1. Pumping education on various pumps, the importance of proper flanges (size, fit, shape, angles, textures, etc.), pump settings, optimization for specific needs / environments, etc.
2. Nipple measurement by highly trained IBCLC's -- this is just a starting point so we know where to begin.
3. The opportunity to pump on site with a HUGE selection of clean / sanitized flanges to try on and experiment with during the Pump Clinic -- hard plastic, silicone, various shapes / angles / textures, sizes 10 mm -- 24+ mm AND LITERALLY EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.
Please note: You will be assigned a space where you can face the front of the room to see the slides and demo. We will encourage you to take your shirt and bra / tank top completely off while pumping. Mama Bear team members will rotate around and observe you pumping and offer guidance for next steps. Feel free to bring a nursing cover or blanket if you desire a bit more privacy.
4. You can leave Pump Clinic with the specific pieces / parts you need SAME DAY if you choose to purchase them from us.

FAQ:
Q: Is Pump Clinic available to prenatal or postpartum folks?
A: Postpartum only. We do not believe it is best practice to measure or offer this service for those who are still pregnant.
Participation in Pump Clinics (or individual Pumping Consults) is best for those who have already given birth and are past initial engorgement phase, typically 3-7 days or more after birth.

Q: What is ideal timing for doing a pumping appointment with Mama Bear?
We believe the optimal timing to start pumping and offering at least one bottle a day is BY THE TIME YOUR BABY IS THREE WEEKS OLD. This guidance sets you both up for success in the short- and the long-term.

Q: Do I need to bring my own pump?
A: It is best for you to bring your own pump(s), clean and set up and completely ready to pump. However, you can still participate if you do not have one (or have one yet). Just let us know on your registration that you will need to utilize one of our set-ups during Pump Clinic.

Q: Can I bring my partner and/or my baby to Pump Clinic?
A: We prefer that you not bring your baby or partner to Pump Clinic, as there will be other pumping parents in the room at the same time, and space is limited.
For private Pumping Consults, your baby and/or another adult are more than welcome to attend with you.

Jennifer took this training in 2021 and hasn't looked back. It has made a HUGE POSITIVE IMPACT on pumping parents in our practice. All team members who serve in lactation roles at Mama Bear take this training and understand how to guide parents through it, as well.
Our expertise allows us to observe you while pumping and make suggestions for what to try next based on what we are seeing.
