As a first-generation American, she understood the power of education and relentlessly pursued her dream of a college degree, applying for scholarships every single day as a teenager. Her hard work paid off, and she became the first in her family to graduate with a bachelor's degree—a testament to her unwavering spirit. Even while focused on her studies, Cindy dedicated countless hours to her local Episcopalian church, demonstrating her passion for service. Remarkably, she mobilized over 100 student volunteers in just one month, creating a powerful force for good in her community.
🥳Today, Cindy is a successful small business owner, connecting local vendors and businesses and strengthening the fabric of her neighborhood. Her daily commute on the VIA bus, traversing the city, sparked a new calling. Having grown up in poverty in Texas, Cindy intimately understands the challenges faced by those struggling to access essential resources. She recognized the need for change and felt a powerful pull to make a difference. Cindy's journey has fueled her belief in the importance of leadership, and she's determined to become the leader she herself needed—a champion for safety, opportunity, and access for all. She's ready to transform her vision into reality, driven by her personal experience and an unwavering commitment to the community that shaped her.
