About the Full Moon: The Pink Moon
The April Full Moon is historically known as the Pink Moon, but not because the moon actually turns pink!
Origin of the Name: The name comes from Native American and Colonial traditions, where the full moon was named after natural markers. The "Pink Moon" specifically refers to the blooming of the wild ground phlox (Phlox subulata), one of the first widespread pink wildflowers to emerge and carpet the ground in early spring.
