Buyi Band was formed in 1995 in Ningxia, China. The name “Buyi” literally means “cotton clothes / plain clothing,” symbolising ordinary people and the band’s commitment to simplicity and sincerity. Their distinctive musical style blends rock with the folk traditions of Northwest China, is full of earthy, grassroots Ningxia flavour. Their gigs present music and emotion in a straightforward, honest way.💽Buyi’s Album BABAOCHA
In 2024, the band continued touring under the theme “Back to the Future.” Their first appearance in the UK was at the Great Escape Festival May 2024, showing their growing international presence.

They also toured Japan in autumn 2024 — visiting over ten cities in about twenty days and performing nearly 17 shows. In 2025, Buyi launched their 30th-anniversary tour, celebrating three decades of making music — with shows across many cities in China.
Here comes BUYI’s 2nd UK trip! They are doing their 2026 UK tour with London and Manchester stop. If you’re drawn to bands that stay true to themselves, avoid commercial gloss, and maintain a deeply local character, Buyi Band is an excellent example. Come to gigs and feel the heat!
