TRIBUTE TO YACHT ROCK - The band is called “WE ARE YACHT ROCK” and since 2018 they have become one of the nation’s premiere and longest running tributes to Yacht Rock! These 8 professional musicians and vocalists & have performed to over 50,000 people at more than 200 shows at Country Clubs, Theatres & municipal facilities across Florida and beyond.
Yacht Rock becomes more popular every year. Sirius Radio has a station dedicated to Yacht Rock and HBO has produced a documentary titled Yacht Rock. Interestingly, the music has become synonymous with Captains Hats, Hawaiian leis & Conga lines, all of which are in the show.
So you ask, "What is Yacht Rock?" It’s Soft Rock music popular from mid-70's to mid-80's. Bands with big hits during this era were: Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, Ambrosia, America, Hall & Oates, Toto and a 100 more bands and about songs like: “Brandy”, “Baby Come Back”, “Dancin’ In The Moonlight”, “Pina Colada”, “Lido Shuffle”, “Maneater”, “Diamond Girl”, “Footloose”, “I Love the Nightlife”, Ride Captain Ride”, “Roseanna”, “Vehicle” & so many more.
The unique thing about Yacht Rock is that much of the music were big hits but recorded by “One-Hit-Wonder” bands so it’s hard to find their music played today.
“WE ARE YACHT ROCK” needed to be the best-of-the-best in order to replicate this difficult music. In this show the audience is treated to hearing multiple keyboardists, multiple electric and acoustic guitarists, saxophone, flute and 5 wonderful vocalists, this show is nothing short of fantastic musically.
At this special CAPE CABARET event there will be a Master of Ceremonies with some Captains Hats for those able to answer some Yacht Rock trivia questions, free Hawaiian leis for all who attend… and a requirement to have a fun night!
