👧 Suitable for home educated children
Join us for a cosy and creative 3 week sewing workshop series where children will learn valuable beginner sewing and embroidery skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Across the three sessions, children will gradually build confidence using real sewing tools and techniques before completing their final project: a hand embroidered teddy bear jumper workshop complete with their very own adorable bear to take home. 🐻✨
Learning to sew is a simple but valuable life skill, with benefits including:
• hand-eye coordination
• mindfulness and focus
• emotional wellbeing and happiness
• creativity, pride and self-esteem
Week 1 | Introduction to Embroidery
Children will explore the world of embroidery and discover how and where it is used. We’ll learn the basics including how to thread a needle, handle fabric safely and confidently, and practise simple running stitch techniques.
Week 2 | Developing Skills & Confidence
Children will build on their stitching skills by learning back stitch and cross stitch techniques. We’ll also learn how to sew on buttons and create a handmade embroidered bookmark to take home.
Week 3 | Teddy Bear Jumper Workshop
Our final project brings everything together. Children will design their teddy bear jumper, choose colours and decorations, and use the sewing skills they’ve learned to create a beautiful hand embroidered jumper for their new teddy bear friend.
