During the trip, we will be guided by the experienced team of Raein Adventures, certified by Nortind, Norway's equivalent to IVBV since 1982. Raein Adventures specialized only in Sunmmore Alps and near by.
⚡ 5. What Is This Trip About and Who Is It For?
Each trip includes 7 nights and 6 full days on the snow, featuring 5 ski touring or splitboarding trips in the heart of the Sunnmøre Alps. This region is famous for offering some of the most stunning ski touring terrain in Norway, with epic descents overlooking the fjords.
If you're an experienced ski tourer or splitboarder with good fitness (capable of daily ascents up to 1,400 m of elevation gain) and want to explore Norway's most breathtaking mountains and fjords, this trip is for you!
⚡ 6. Travel and Accommodation:
Airport: Ålesund.
Transfer: Direct to our base by the Storfjord (approx. 1.5 hours). We take care of participants from the meeting point at the airport at 3:00 PM.
Accommodation: Traditional, comfortable Hytta cabins for 4 people, featuring:
2 bedrooms,
bathroom,
efficient heating system,
spacious living room with a fully equipped kitchenette for preparing meals.
⚡ 7. Terrain:
The Sunnmøre Alps offer a mix of alpine conditions with stunning fjord scenery, perfect for ski touring and free touring enthusiasts. Peaks in the region feature open slopes, couloirs, and steep walls, all surrounded by spectacular fjords.
Enjoy runs with up to 1,700 m of vertical drop in one go. The proximity to the sea ensures reliable snow throughout the season, with frequent fresh powder dumps.
Top Ski Touring Routes in Sunnmøre Alps:
Slogen (1,564 m): Spectacular views of Hjørundfjord with unforgettable descents.
Kolåstinden (1,432 m): Beautiful powder runs across expansive slopes.
Randers Topp (1,414 m): A descent straight to the fjord.
Blæja (1,420 m): A long, technical tour with an epic descent overlooking Storfjord.
The Stranda and Valldalen regions offer less crowded routes, ideal for exploring untouched freeride terrain. The Sunnmøre Alps guarantee stable snow conditions thanks to a unique microclimate, with routes starting as low as 350–450 m above sea level.
Weather Alternative:
When mountain conditions are challenging, Stranda and Valdal ski resorts provide the perfect backup for slackcountry skiing.
⚡ 8. Program:
Day 1: Meet at 3:00 PM at Ålesund Airport, transfer to base (approx. 1.5 hours).
Days 2–7: Daily ski touring or splitboarding starts at 9:00 AM. In case of bad weather, slackcountry skiing at Stranda Ski Resort. Return to base at 5:00 PM. Evenings free for optional activities.
Day 8: Depart base at 1:00 PM, transfer to the airport for a 3:00 PM departure. Farewell.
⚡ 9. Price Includes:
Transfers to and from the airport.
Accommodation in 4-person Hytta cabins.
5 days of ski touring with an IVBV-certified guide.
1 day of slackcountry skiing with a guide and skipass in case of poor weather.
Local transport by minibus.
⚡ 10. Price Does Not Include:
Flights (approx. €90).
Meals (kitchen facilities available in cabins).
Ski insurance (mandatory).
⚡ 11. Additional Attractions:
Sauna and river bathing (€9/person per session).
Welcome grill and unlimited access to the grill area.
Chance to see the Northern Lights.
Base located right by the fjord.
⚡ 12. Sign-Up Process:
Fill out the registration form on our website and mark "Going" on the Facebook event.
Note: Clicking "Going" does not confirm participation; confirmation happens after signing the agreement and paying the deposit.
We will contact you to finalize the agreement.
Pay a 50% deposit.
We handle group arrangements, formalities, and trip details according to participant preferences.
The remaining amount must be paid 30 days before departure. Late payments incur a 5% handling fee.
⚡ 13. Cancellation Policy:
If you cancel 60 to 30 days before the trip, you can transfer your deposit to another date or event (excluding Heliski and RatrakFreeride). You'll receive a voucher valid for 2 years. If you apply the voucher to a more expensive trip, you'll get a 5% discount.
⚡ 14. Trip Confirmation:
The trip will be confirmed at least 4 weeks before the date, depending on organizational complexity. We reserve the right to make program changes due to circumstances beyond our control. In case of trip cancellation by us, all payments will be refunded.
