About this Event
"Un rendez-vous" ...
What if we listened to each work as if it had been written yesterday?Just there, barely finished: fresh paint, a few coffee stains on the score before it is handed to the musicians…
That is the principle of this concert. By placing a living composer at the heart of the program, our friend Jean-Paul Dessy, we may hear Beethoven as if he had sat down among us, restless, unable to keep still , ready to leap up at every bar.
Reinhold Glière (1875–1957), despite his French-sounding name, which may evoke a famous Resistance maquis is in fact a Ukrainian composer, a contemporary of Rachmaninov.
Finally, the work by Schoenberg is an early composition (1905), based on a poem by Richard Dehmel (1863–1920), a German poet whose symbolist poetry profoundly inspired Schoenberg, notably for his « Transfigured Night ».This work remained unfinished, yet its beauty brings us back to that sense of urgency and closeness in the composer’s gesture.Ultimately, his inspiration shifted toward other imperatives, leaving us forever with a work in progress. It will still resonate when we have our coffee the next morning.
