‘Postcards from the Future’ and Other Works by Allie Rykken
Can we imagine a future for the soon-to-be-developed Luther Seminary campus which strengthens community vitality and resilience? That is the question asked by Postcards from the Future, a community art and dialogue project with the support of Transition Town–All St. Anthony Park and Friends of Breck Woods. The project hosted a series of workshops to unearth ideas for how the campus' sale and redevelopment could strengthen community well-being.
This exhibit features watercolor artist Allie Rykken’s new series, ‘Postcards from the Future’, which brings community visions for the future of Luther Seminary’s campus to life through art. Each painting allows us to be voyeurs and voyageurs, seeing into the future, experiencing what life on the old campus could look and feel like each season of the year.
Allie Rykken is a visual artist based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Allie loves to dwell and move in outdoor spaces, with a passion for cross-country skiing, trail running and long-distance canoeing. She is a believer in community engagement, life-long education, and getting involved to improve the state of the world.
