The evening is intended as a celebration of all those who contributed to the book project, shared their stories and labour, and continue building collective forms of care, resistance, and solidarity in the face of FIFA and Olympic dispossession.
A Q&A with the other will be moderated by Jennie Pearson of SFU Criminology, with additional speakers from SWAN Vancouver. This event is free, but please RSVP as capacity is limited.

Amanda De Lisio is assistant professor in the School of Kinesiology and Health Science at York University, co-director of the Critical Trafficking and Sex Work Studies Research Cluster, and executive member of the CITY Institute. She is editor and translator of Putafeminista (Monique Prada) and editor and co-translator (with Bruna Dantas Lobato) of So What If I’m a Puta? (Amara Moira), both published by The Feminist Press (2025), and author of Play Naked: Puta Economies Against Olympic Dispossession (MQUP, 2026).

Jennie Pearson is a postdoctoral fellow working under the supervision of assistant professor Andrea Krüsi as part of the CARE study. Her research focuses on mutual aid practices and community care models among sex workers across both physical and digital spaces. Using participatory approaches, she examines how sex workers navigate and resist criminalization, surveillance, deplatforming and labour precarity through collective forms of support.
