About the Event

‘Off the Record’ returns Tuesday 7 October for an in conversation between artist Do Ho Suh and curator Sook-Kyung Lee.

Held on the first Tuesday of every month from April to December 2025, these intimate and relaxed conversations bring together artists, thinkers, and creatives to give an insight into their inspirations, processes and the evolution of ideas.⁠ The series is a celebration of traditional conviviality, designed to be experienced live in a welcoming wine bar setting.


About the Wine

Our partner Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain’s oldest wine and spirit merchant, will welcome each guest with a complimentary glass of wine. There will be a choice between a glass of Mullineux Old Vines White (2023), a Chenin Blanc from Swartland, South Africa or Mullineux Syrah (2022) from Swartland, South Africa.

  • 6.15 pm: Arrival and welcome drink
  • 7 pm: Talk
  • 8 pm: Informal mingling


Tickets

£14 per person which includes:


  • A welcome glass of wine
  • A copy of ArtReview and Ursula magazines


Seating will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.


Additional Food and Drink

An à-la-carte menu of small plates, charcuterie and wines will be available to purchase throughout the evening.


About Do Hu Suh

Do Ho Suh is a South Korean artist who lives and works in London, UK. His practice spans various media, creating drawings, film and sculptural works that confront questions of home, physical space, movement, memory, individuality and collectivity. Suh is best known for his fabric sculptures that reconstruct to scale his former homes in Seoul, South Korea; Rhode Island, USA; Berlin, Germany; London, UK; and New York City, NY. Suh is interested in the malleability of space in both its physical and metaphorical forms, examining how the body relates to, inhabits and interacts with that space.

Suh’s major solo exhibitions include: Tate Modern, London, UK (2025, 2011); National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh, UK (2024); Art Sonje Center, Seoul, South Korea (2024); Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney, Australia (2022); Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles CA (2019); Towada Art Center, Towada, Japan (2018); Whitney Museum of American Art, New York NY (2017, 2001); Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan (2015); National Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul, South Korea (2013); amongst others. His work is in numerous international collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York NY; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York NY; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York NY; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles CA; Tate, London, UK; Leeum Museum of Art, Seoul, South Korea; Art Sonje Center, Seoul, South Korea; Mori Art Museum, Minato, Japan; and 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan.


About Sook-Kyung Lee

Curator Sook-Kyung Lee is the Director of the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester, UK, and Professor of Curatorial Practices at the University of Manchester. She was Artistic Director of the 14th Gwangju Biennale (2023), titled ‘soft and weak like water,’ which explored themes of resistance, indigeneity, decoloniality and ecology. Prior to the Whitworth Art Gallery, Lee was Senior Curator (International Art) at Tate Modern in London, UK, working in exhibitions, collection displays and acquisitions. She also headed a major multi-year research initiative ‘Hyundai Tate Research Centre: Transnational’ at Tate Modern, overseeing its strategic vision and associated programming. Lee served as the Commissioner and Curator of the Korea Pavilion at the 56th Venice Biennale in Italy, and curated the Japan Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale, represented by the artist Yuko Mohri.
