This five piece Midlands-based band formed in 2008 performing at local venues and festivals. From the great songs of 'Oye Coma Va' , El Cuarto de Tula to Lovely Day, you'll get a mixture of styles and flavours that will get your hips swaying and feet tapping.
Gary Wood(trumpet & vocal)
Gary Wood is a popular Jazz/Swing Trumpeter and Vocalist – equally at home as a solo artist or with bands, including his own quartet with whom he has released a CD ‘Evening Standards’. His trumpet skills are such that he has played with such ‘greats’ as Johnny Dankworth, Alan Barnes and Roy Williams.
Gary has an extremely likeable stage presence and speaks to his audiences with enormous charm and wit, something which has made him a popular attraction in live venues and prestigious Festivals throughout the UK and Europe
Paul Whistler(drums)
Leicester based musician, largely self-taught. Paul first played in a marching band and then orchestra, moving to local Prog Rock bands before gravitating towards jazz, where he has become a sought after drummer on the Midlands jazz scene playing alongside many musicians including Greg abate, Alan Skidmore and Sally Barker. Has played in a Leicester Salsa band where he developed his interest in the many rhythmic styles of Afro Cuban music which he continues to explore.
Jules Hunt(piano & vocal)
�As an experienced Jazz and Latin-Jazz performer, has led his own Jazz trio and Salsa bands for 2 decades. Has appeared with Don Weller, George Chisholm, and played at The Royal Albert Hall and in various jazz big bands , and Sinatra-themed events . Studied at The Guildhall, is classically trained and has done various studio and theatre work .
Rebecca Percival(percussion & vocal)
has been playing Latin percussion since the 1990s when she studied under the great Eric Rangel in San Francisco. She got hooked on Cuban and NuYorican styles, using congas and bongos, then moved forward with timbales after a visit to Cuba on a Latin jazz residential course. She works with many different musicians and bands, from folk music artist Matt Keene, to punk-funk outfit P-Hex and the Big Band Jazz Colossus .She’s also recorded and performs with the Elevation Quintet led by pianist Linden Hale. Performing with amazing musicians in and around the midlands enables her to experiment, and meet some amazingly talented musicians, whilst having great fun.
Bryan Paul (bass & vocal)
One of Zimbabwe’s prominent bass players who has a diverse and vast musical experience in rock, funk, jazz, Latin and traditional African music. Over the years has performed clubs and festivals regionally in the southern African countries,Europe and now locally around the UK.As a composer, has recorded with the groups Ilanga,Talking Drum, Mudzimu,Jama and Elevation Quintet to name a few. Has enjoyed working with and doing support acts for Andy Sheppered,Luois Winsberg quartet,Eric Clapton, Darius Brubeck,Maxi Priest,Alain Brunet and Antoine Illouz.
