Что такое Limmud?
Limmud с иврита переводится как обучение или познание.
Limmud это самая плюралистическая программа познания еврейства из всех существующих в мире. Limmud проводится в формате Фестиваля общественного обучения, который включает:

- возможности для дискуссий и взаимодействия

Слава Гауфберг – человек-легенда, автор и исполнитель, врач и альпинист, сохранивший в себе ту самую любовь к жизни, о которой мечтают многие. В 1982 году был лишен советского гражданства и эмигрировал в США.
С 1991 года практикует и преподаёт экстренную медицину в Harvard University. В течение многих лет возглавлял клинику экстренной медицины, а в настоящее время является директором одной из гарвардских резидентур.
С юности увлекается альпинизмом, горными лыжами, дайвингом и парусным спортом. В 1990 году совершил восхождение на Mount Everest. Петь и писать стихи начал ещё в детстве. Ему посчастливилось быть знакомым с Александрoм Галичeм, Владимирoм Высоцким, Булатoм Окуджавoй, Юрием Кукиным, Евгением Клячкиным, Александром Дольским. Аккомпанировал Владимиру Высоцкому во время записей; фирма «Мелодия» выпустила две пластинки с этими записями.
В 2016, 2017, 2018 и 2019 году по приглашению Фонда Булата Окуджавы выступал с сольными концертами в Доме Булата на Арбате в Москве, в 2017 - в Доме Журналиста, в 2019 году - в Московском Доме Кино.
В декабре 2019 года в Москве провёл вечер памяти близкого друга, актера Московского Театра на Таганке Димы Межевича. В 2019 выступил с сольным концертом в Konzerthaus Berlin по приглашению организаторов фестиваля в честь скрипача Гидона Кремера.

Today, Center Makor celebrates its 20th anniversary, and we are all immensely grateful to Slava Gaufberg for his generous gift: donating the proceeds from his charity concert, “In Memory of Alexander Galich,” to the Center Makor fund.
We extend our thanks to Congregation Kehillath Israel for their partnership and support in organizing this charity concert.
These funds will go toward developing Limmud—the most popular cultural and educational program in the Jewish world—here in Boston and New England; Center Makor recently acquired the rights to host this program.
The philosophy behind Limmud is to make Jewish learning and exploration accessible and engaging for everyone.
What is Limmud?
In Hebrew, *Limmud* translates as “learning” or “study.”
Limmud is the most pluralistic Jewish learning program in existence today. It is organized as a “Festival of Jewish Learning,” featuring:
- Multiple concurrent sessions
- A diverse range of educational topics
- A cultural program
- Opportunities for discussion and interaction
Key objectives include:
- Supporting lifelong Jewish learning
- Strengthening Jewish cultural identity
- Encouraging intergenerational engagement
- Fostering stronger connections and cooperation within the community
- Developing volunteer leadership and active participation
- Creating opportunities for dialogue and the exchange of knowledge
On behalf of the entire staff and Board of Directors of Center Makor, we are deeply grateful to everyone attending Slava’s concert and supporting the growth of Limmud within our community.

About our performer.
Slava Gaufberg is a living legend—a singer-songwriter, physician, and mountaineer who has preserved that rare zest for life that so many aspire to find. In 1982, he was stripped of his Soviet citizenship and emigrated to the United States.
Since 1991, he has practiced and taught emergency medicine at Harvard University. For many years, he served as the head of an emergency medicine clinic, and he currently directs one of Harvard’s residency programs.
Since his youth, he has been passionate about mountaineering, downhill skiing, scuba diving, and sailing. In 1990, he successfully summited Mount Everest. He began singing and writing poetry in his childhood. He had the privilege of knowing such figures as Alexander Galich, Vladimir Vysotsky, Bulat Okudzhava, Yuri Kukin, Evgeny Klyachkin, and Alexander Dolsky. He accompanied Vladimir Vysotsky during recording sessions; the Melodiya label subsequently released two vinyl records featuring these recordings.
In 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, at the invitation of the Bulat Okudzhava Foundation, he performed solo concerts at the “House of Bulat” on the Arbat in Moscow; in 2017, he performed at the House of Journalists; and in 2019, at the Moscow House of Cinema. In December 2019, he hosted a memorial evening in Moscow dedicated to his close friend, Dima Mezhevich—an actor at the Moscow Taganka Theatre.
In 2019, he gave a solo concert at the Konzerthaus Berlin, invited by the organizers of a festival honoring the violinist Gidon Kremer.
