Àkòdì showcases short films for Black and global majority audiences, fostering a vibrant and engaged screen culture. Through carefully curated screenings, Àkòdì aims to contribute to the collective experience of cinema, bringing audiences together to celebrate powerful storytelling.
Join us at Genesis Cinema for an exciting showcase filled with an eclectic collection of five short films:
ADURA BABI MI (dir. Juliana Kasumu)
- Intimate recollection of a religious leader and his once devoted wife.
IRPINIA (dir. Jameisha Prescod)
- A young West Indian dreamer boards a ship to England in search of a better life.
JOURNEY MERCIES (dir. Tomisin Adepeju)
- It's Bade's last day at work; he's finally ready to go home.
TEJU'S TALE (dir. Teniola Zara King)
- Teju relocates to London from Lagos to study nursing, but faces challenges when her colleagues demand to see her tail.
THE VISIT (dir. Ebele Tate)
- A young woman attempts to connect with her estranged mother, but the fantasy of who she is is abruptly shattered.
