About this Event

Sir Robert Stheeman led the UK Debt Management Office from 2003 to 2024, overseeing the issuance of government debt through financial crises, pandemic spending, and periods of relative calm. Join us for a conversation about the practical realities of managing sovereign debt at scale—how decisions are made, what keeps debt managers awake at night, and how the machinery of public finance can be made to operate in both favourable and turbulent conditions.

Sir Robert Stheeman will be interviewed by Dr Charlotte Rommerskirchen, Senior Lecturer in International Political Economy at the University of Edinburgh.
