About this Event
Join the Fun at Zora's Place Sign Painting Party!
Zora’s Place is more than a bookstore—it’s a sanctuary for stories, community, and Black feminist thought. As we settle into our home in Evanston, we want our storefront to reflect the collective spirit of the people who make this space possible.
Join us for a Community Sign Painting Day! We are creating a large-scale, hand-painted sign to hang in the shop, and we want your help!
What to Expect:
- No Experience Needed: Whether you’re a seasoned artist or haven't touched a brush since elementary school, there’s a place for you here.
- Collaborative Painting: We will be working with professional-grade acrylics in our signature palette of Plum, Green, and Ivory.
- Community Connection: Meet fellow book lovers, neighbors, and supporters of Zora’s Place while we create something lasting together.
About Zora's Place
Zora’s Place was born from a simple, soul-deep truth: we need a space of our own. A space where Black stories are centered, celebrated, and shared. A space where sisterhood and self-care are sacred. A space that feels like home.
Named in honor of literary icon Zora Neale Hurston, Zora’s Place is Evanston’s first Black feminist bookstore—a cozy, creative sanctuary where readers, writers, and dreamers gather. Whether you’re browsing for your next favorite book, joining us for a community event, or simply stopping by to exhale and exist, you’re welcome here.
