🔥 YOU’RE INVITED 🔥Burnout Barbie’s ZOOCHOSIS Album Release ShowWednesday • January 28 • The Back Table
Step into the wild…
Burnout Barbie (the unapologetically feral musical brainchild of Greensboro’s own Piper Gartner) is unleashing ZOOCHOSIS—an explicit, raw, and incandescent new album that tears into oppressive systems and amplifies the voices of survivors.
Though it sounds like a fever dream, “zoochosis” is very real: a term for the psychological collapse animals endure when forced into captivity. Barbie’s title track drags this concept into our world, exposing how modern society cages human lives—warping our collective mind and body through capitalism, white supremacy, and patriarchy.
“We are all experiencing Zoochosis,” Barbie insists. “To break free, we have to restore the natural systems that have been sabotaged and stripped from our world.”
With this record, she dismantles the status quo of what artists—especially women—are “allowed” to say. ZOOCHOSIS shines a razor-edged spotlight on human rights and draws an unflinching line between personal liberation and the structures of fascism, colonialism, and white supremacy.
“It is an honor and a pleasure to perform again at The Back Table. The community at the Downtown Silos is unmatched in talent and heart. I’m looking forward to sharing my work with my Greensboro family.”
Burnout Barbie is Folk-Punk Post Americana Shock Rock at its most electrically unhinged—classic folk, blues, pop, and country ripped open and rewired into a matriarchal antifascist battle cry.
RIP Matty — this show’s for you

Offstage, Piper is a wandering creative force: designing for her custom label Revival, photographing tiny worlds through a macro lens, disappearing into the woods, globe-trotting, and now settling into life in southern France with her husband, Fabien Raffier.
This spring she heads to a songwriter’s retreat in Sweden with collaborator Hans Rolf—who will be guest performing at the ZOOCHOSIS release show. (Catch his band Dec 26 Hans Rolf and Friends at the Continental Club—Barbie will be guest performing!)
