PHILIP MARTIN is a critic and columnist at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, author of the essay collections The Shortstop’s Son and The Artificial Southerner and the poetry collection The President Next Door. His first novel, Parallel to Heaven will be published in 2027 by Braddock Avenue Books. Martin is also a songwriter who has released eight albums of original music, with his ninth album Nobody Wants to Hear You Sing scheduled for release in Spring 2026. He lives in the Rockwater neighborhood of North Little Rock with his wife (and editor) Karen and two rescue chihuahua mixes.

JESSICA MAXWELL is a writer and photographer from Little Rock, Arkansas. She has written two short films and won the Joy Taylor Rieves Prize for Poetry for her poem "Gemini."
