Zac Wilkerson describes himself as a “soul rocker from the country.” His music blends Americana, soul, country, rock, and roots influences. He is known for powerful, soulful vocals paired with driving guitar, emotionally pointed songwriting, and a live performance energy. Zac started singing in a country church from a very early age (around age 4).By age 12, he was already playing several instruments (piano, guitar among them), and started writing songs around then. His musical influences are broad and include his parents’ tastes: country, rock, Motown, soul, folk, and gospel.
Matt Hillyer is a veteran Texas singer-songwriter whose solo work channels a lifetime of musical influences while staying rooted in country, honky-tonk, and rockabilly traditions. Before fronting his more recognized projects, Hillyer cut his teeth in bands such as Lone Star Trio (rockabilly) and a Dallas‐based rock outfit called Strap, performing across Deep Ellum in the 1990s. In 1998 he co-founded Eleven Hundred Springs, serving as lead vocalist, guitarist, and principal songwriter. Over 23 years the band released more than a dozen albums and became a staple in the Texas honky-tonk and swing country scene. In 2021 the band announced it was winding down. Hillyer then shifted focus more fully to his solo career.
His solo debut album, If These Old Bones Could Talk, came out in 2014. In 2023 he released Glorieta, a record praised for blending traditional country elements with adventurous songwriting. His most recent effort is Bright Skyline, released June 21, 2024 under State Fair Records. On this record, Hillyer further refines his fusion of rockabilly, western swing, outlaw country, and classic honky-tonk.
