Castlebay, the musical duo of Julia Lane and Fred Gosbee, weaves together the musical legacies of maritime Maine and the British Isles. The pair have a passion for traditional music, blending history, legend, and experience into their performances, transporting their audience through time and across the Atlantic.Julia Lane, is a self-taught, award-winning singer, songwriter, and folklorist, who has played the Celtic harp since 1989. Julia has done extensive research in folksong archives throughout New England, and her book, Song of Ships & Sailors: Bygone Ballads of Maine, was published by Loomis House Press in 2021.
Fred Gosbee, is a singer, songwriter, and storyteller, who plays classic and 12-string guitar, violin, viola, and Irish flute. He learned many traditional songs from his family, who worked as lumbermen in the forests of New Brunswick and Maine. Fred is also a talented craftsman, who has built Julia’s harps and many other instruments.
Tickets are $18 per person, $15 for members.
