On 19th of June, virtuoso duo Yul4ik&Einar will have their first show of 2026 at Mengi to perform their new material alongside some notable hits from their debut album Cruel Baboon’s Dilemma, which was released via Spider Network label in 2025.
Critics describe their shows as an “emotional confrontation for both musicians and audience”. This particular show is the first big stone in the fortress of their new album's sound that is currently being built.
The audience is invited to witness the creation of the best experimental album of 2026 in an intimate atmosphere of Mengi – a heart of the sonic explorations of Reykjavík.
This will be their first live performance since their debut album was named the best experimental album of 2025 by Arnar Eggert in Morgunblaðið, as well as their nomination for the prestigious Kraumslistinn award 2025.
In Morgunblaðið, Arnar Eggert described Yul4ik&Einar's Cruel Baboon’s Dilemma sound as ‘’haunting noise, ghostly computer sounds from outer space, music that is shredded, fragmented and cut up.’’ .
The duo is the result of an extensive collaboration between musician, visual and performance artist Yulia Vasileva (MC MYASNOI, Spider Network) and Einar Hugi, classically trained organist, choir singer, experimental video game maker and musician.
As part of MC MYASNOI, Yulia has received the Kraumur award 2024, has been nominated for Best Live Act 2024 (Grapevine Awards) and for Best Event of the Year 2025 (Grapevine Awards) with Spider Network.
