On Sunday, February 14, 12:30pm-3:30pm, the International Museum of Surgical Science and the Alliance Française de Chicago present a Youth Surrealist Collage Pop-Up Exhibition featuring original student artworks inspired by dream logic, chance, and playful imagination. The event is presented in dialogue with the exhibition’s Buñuel Family Legacy Room, which traces how mentorship from artists such as Alexander Calder, Leonora Carrington, Salvador Dalí, and Pablo Picasso shaped generations of the Buñuel family—a theme echoed in the young artists’ work on view. Family-friendly. Admission included with museum entry. Exhibition closes February 22.
The International Museum of Surgical Science and the Alliance Française de Chicago collaborate on Youth Surrealist Collage Pop-Up, a family-focused program presented as part of the closing celebrations of Buñuel: Master of Dreams. Showcasing original collage artworks created by Alliance Française students, the pop-up celebrates imagination, play, and early creative expression within the historic setting of the International Museum of Surgical Science. The program is presented in dialogue with the exhibition’s Buñuel Family Legacy Room, which traces how mentorship from Alexander Calder, Leonora Carrington, Salvador Dalí, and Pablo Picasso shaped generations of the Buñuel family—a theme echoed in the young artists’ work on view. Together, these two institutions create an immersive cultural experience where education, architecture, and artistic legacy converge for audiences of all ages.
