About this Event

Course: Youth Mental Health First Aid, Edgbaston Community Centre, 40 Woodview Drive, Birmingham, B15 2HU

The Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) program delivers to individuals the tools they need to recognise the symptoms of mental ill health, provide initial help, guide a person towards appropriate professional help, and be mindful of their own wellbeing. This course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider ®, allowing you to;

  • Explain what mental health is
  • Describe how to look after their own mental health and wellbeing
  • Describe the signs of poor mental health in young people
  • Explain some of the risk factors associated with poor mental health in young people
  • Know how to use the MHFAider Support App®

Everyone who completes the course gets:

  • A hard copy workbook to support their learning throughout the course
  • A digital manual to refer to whenever they need it​ after completing the course
  • A wallet-sized reference card with the Mental Health First Aid action plan​
  • A digital Youth MHFAider® certificate
  • Access to the new MHFAider Support App® for three years
  • The opportunity to be part of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders, the only of its kind with a collective power to raise awareness and understanding of mental health stigma.

Learning:

Learning takes place in person at The Edgbaston Community Centre. Training is delivered through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. We limit numbers to 16 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.

YOU MUST ATTEND BOTH DAYS TO QUALIFY AS A MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDER®

Once you register:

You will receive a comprehensive welcome email giving you all of the details you will need to successfully complete the course from start to completion.

Entry Requirements:

All participants must be aged over 18 years.

Cost: £325.00 per person for an open public course.
