This session responds to the challenge for programs to attract and sustain youth involvement through the middle and high school years. Strong relationships and opportunities for meaningful involvement are essential for retaining youth in programs and developing their skills and assets in a holistic manner. This session highlights the role of both adults and youth in building successful programs.
Learning Objectives:
-Capitalize on the assets of youth to create opportunities and provide guidance in helping students learn to successfully navigate different settings, develop life-long skills, and make good choices.
-Build positive, supportive relationships based on caring and respect between and among adults and young people.
-Embrace and champion diversity, inclusion, access, and equity at every level among staff, partners, stakeholders, and youth.
-Offer meaningful opportunities for decision-making, problem solving, critical thinking, and leadership by and with youth.
