Attention all BIPOC Youth and Allies in so-called Ottawa! Join us for a unique and free half-day experience crafted specifically for BIPOC Youth and Allies in so-called Ottawa! On Wednesday May 29th, 2024, from 5-9 PM, deep dive into the heart of the matter, exploring the intersection between climate issues, racial justice, and politics. This is an in-person side event of Environmental Leadership Canada’s renowned Future Leaders in Politics (FLIP) Summit happening virtually on May 14-15, 2024.
The event kicks off with a community dialogue, providing an opportunity for you to participate in impactful and anti-oppressive group discussions, led by skilled facilitators. This space is for you to share your concerns, your experiences, your fears and aspirations regarding environmental and political issues, all in alignment with the upcoming federal election. After a quick break and refreshments, you will engage in small group 'hackathon' aimed at addressing election-related challenges. Through these sessions, and your peers will have the chance to 'hack' these issues by crafting impactful campaign tactics focused on topics such as boosting voter turnout, how to frame the climate crisis within the affordability crisis, and bringing up conversation on racial and climate justice with friends and family. With the guidance of political tools and expertise, you will leave this event ready to transform your ideas into actionable initiatives for the upcoming federal election and have the opportunity to connect with peers who are passionate about making a difference in the realm of climate action!
