Event Description:
We often underestimate the importance and power of our own handwriting – whether it’s script, cursive, or somewhere in between. In this creative session you’ll use your personal handwriting as a jumping off point to make small pieces of art—no matter how good or not-so-good you think your handwriting may be! Using your handwriting and a few everyday writing tools, you’ll explore visual rhythm, texture, and contrast. You’ll also play with the letterforms by changing their familiar shapes into unique structures that will surprise and delight you. Your experimentations will reveal the remarkable possibilities that your handwriting holds for making art. In the end you’ll walk away from this workshop with a whole new perspective on your handwriting. Come with a playful mindset and just see where the letters take you.
