Join the Pittsburgh CLO for a performance of “Young Washington.”
Experience revolutionary history like never before during a performance of the musical, “Young Washington.”
Follow the story of a young George Washington as he journeys through Western Pennsylvania during the French and Indian War, then stick around for a Q&A with the CLO cast and a museum educator-led tour of the Clash of Empires exhibition. Kids and families can keep the adventure going with a “George Washington Was Here” scavenger hunt throughout the museum.
Following the production, join historic foodways interpreters Erin and Robert Windhorst from Woodville Experience in the Weisbrod Kitchen Classroom for an exploration of food eaten by people of the 18th century.

This program is part of the History Center’s year-long commemoration of the U.S. Semiquincentennial, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, in partnership with America250PA.
America250PA was established by the Pennsylvania state legislature and Governor in 2018 to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, Pennsylvania’s integral role in that event, and the impact of its people on the nation’s past, present, and future.
Heinz History Center programs commemorating America’s 250th anniversary are supported by Nimick Forbesway Foundation, Richard King Mellon Foundation, Visit PA, and the Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD).
Admission
Access to “Young Washington” is included with regular museum admission. Kids enjoy free admission every day, all year long, through the Kamin “Free for Kids” Initiative.
