Vintage Screenings pair classic films with thematically linked wine tastings to create unique evenings in the stunning setting of Averys Wine Merchants’ historic wine cellar. Following a sparkling wine reception, the film will be accompanied by a tasting of four carefully selected wines courtesy of Averys’ resident experts, guiding you through them at stages during the film.
It was a sell-out favourite in the first year of the Festival, so we’re thrilled to be concluding our trio of Halloween-themed Vintage Screenings with a 50th anniversary screening of Mel Brooks’ frightfully funny comedy-horror spoof Young Frankenstein. Gene Wilder shines as the eccentric scientist who can’t escape his family past, no matter how vehemently he insists it’s pronounced “Fronkensteen”… We’ll be pairing it with a flight of wines from Eastern Europe, showcasing countries and varieties that are at last beginning to earn their rightful reputation in the international scene.
