About this Event
Join us for this Young Craft Citizen meetup in October!
Following on from our summer session exploring museum and art collections, we are inviting YCC back to Crafts Council HQ to dive deeper in a session that explores our handling collection with access to our newly refurbished collections store.
Young people have a right to access art, culture and craft, and yet they face many barriers when it comes to engaging with both public and private collections in the UK. Join us as we continue our critical conversation with a focus on our handling collection. We’ll invite you to select and handle objects from the collection, explore their stories and develop innovative ways of working with these objects. You’ll leave the session with new insights and some practical object handling experience.
This will be a creative session object handling and discussion hosted by creative consultant Chris Webb. It is a part of Crafts Council’s National Heritage Lottery Funded Craft for the People programme that seeks to make out collection more accessible to the public.
Who is this event for?
This is event for anyone with an interest in craft, making and museums. Whether you have a special interest in curating and caring for collections or have never given the subject much thought, we’d love you to join this conversation.
