About this Event
YKWU (You Can Knit With Us) is Colèchi’s very own knitting club that started as a way to encourage people take part in the art of producing fashion through knitting; and to change generic preconceived ideas of who knits.
YKWU collaborates with knitwear designers, yarn producers and educators to allow an explorative reconnection with traditional clothes making.
Sessions are held on the last Sunday of the month at The Lab E20 in Stratford, East London.
About the facilitator
We're joined by Alessia, a multi-disciplinary artist based in Hackney, London who likes to wear many hats (no pun intended). Formerly a photographer and videographer, Alessia now works as a (self-thought) knitter, crocheter, and handpoke tattoo artist. Her art is often inspired by mediaeval fashion and ancient iconography but with a contemporary approach.
About the pattern
This month's YKWU is a crochet workshop where you'll learn how to create a shell bonnet (modelled by Alessia above). If you're new to crochet, don't worry as this pattern is suitable for people of all levels.
