You Are Invited! NYPL / New York State Job Fair

*This event is in-person at the Parkchester Library

Are you interested in a job with New York State or New York City? Join the New York Public Library’s Career Services team, along with the New York State Departments of Labor and Civil Service, at our New York State Opportunities in Government Career Fair,  happening on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 11 AM to 2:30 PM. 

This event will highlight employment opportunities that are available throughout New York City and New York State agencies and will offer attendees the option to meet representatives from eight agencies who can offer information about job openings in their departments.

This event is free and open to all job seekers 18 and older—no library card required.  Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, learn, and launch your career in the New York public sector —we can’t wait to see you there! 

Note: One ticket allows entry for one patron to the Job Fair for the entire day (no additional tickets required). If a patron claims multiple tickets, we will be canceling the extra tickets and granting only the earliest request.

1. Do I need to have applied for a state or city government job in order to attend? No! You are welcome to attend even if you haven’t submitted your application or are just interested in finding out more about open opportunities.
2. Should I bring my resume? Yes! We may be able to print additional copies for you on-site, but make sure to bring at least a handful with you.
3. What should I wear? Business casual is recommended, but wear what makes you feel confident!
4. How do tickets work? Each ticket has an entry time associated with it. Patrons can join the check-in line at the time of their entry ticket for admittance to the fair. One ticket includes entry for one person to the Job Fair for the rest of the day (no additional tickets required). You will be able to exit and re-enter the event, as long as you still have your wristband.

Representatives from NY State Department of Civil Service will be on-site to provide information and instruction for attendees interested in applying for NYS employment.

Workshops will be scheduled soon. No additional registration is necessary to attend the workshops (though registration for the event is required). Seats are limited and available first-come, first-served.
