Yosemite National Park. Nearly 1,200 square miles of deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, mountains of solid granite, and remarkable scenery.
95 percent of the park is designated wilderness, one of the largest and least fragmented habitat blocks in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
In 1890, John Muir led a successful movement to motivate Congress to establish Yosemite Valley and its surrounding areas as a National Park.
Giant sequoias live in three groves inside the park. The most easily accessible of these is the Mariposa Grove near the park's south entrance and home to over 500 mature trees. Giant sequoia are the largest trees on Earth and are among the oldest living organisms on the planet. The oldest known is 3,200 years old.
Come explore the wonder, history, and breathtaking beauty of Yosemite with us!
These presentations are free and open to the public. Membership with Whitefish Community Center is not required to attend. Donations always accepted and appreciated.
